How to Optimise an Interior Design Portfolio for SEO Without Hurting the Look

Add saadrazaseo.com as a preferred source on Google

Takes about a minute. You hear back from me personally.

To optimise an interior design portfolio for SEO, add real text around your photos, give every image a descriptive file name and alt text, compress the files so pages load fast and organise projects into clear pages. You can keep the visual style exactly as it is, because the changes mostly happen behind and beneath the images.

Add words that describe the work

Google cannot judge a gallery with no text. Give each project a short introduction covering the brief, the space, the style and the result. A few well-written paragraphs are enough to give context without cluttering the layout.

Name and describe every image

  • Use a descriptive file name such as modern-kitchen-island-lighting.jpg, not IMG_4821.jpg.
  • Write alt text that describes what the image shows, in plain language.
  • Add captions where they genuinely help the visitor.

Keep photos fast

Large photography slows pages, and slow pages frustrate visitors. Shrink dimensions with my free image resizer, then compress and convert with the image compressor and WebP converter. Check results using the PageSpeed checker.

Separate pages for separate projects give each one a clear topic and its own address. Group them by space type or style and link between related projects.

Avoid hiding content in scripts

If a gallery loads only after clicks or is built entirely in scripts, search engines may miss it. Make sure the key images and text appear in the page code.

Frequently asked questions

Is it bad to have a minimalist site with little text?

It can be fine visually, but it gives search engines little to work with. Add context somewhere on each page.

Should I put a watermark on photos?

A small one is fine, but avoid covering the subject.
