I offer SEO services in Karachi from Gulistan-e-Johar, so the city I optimise for is the one I live, commute and shop in. My work is built around how Karachi customers actually find a shop, clinic, supplier or home service on Google: by neighbourhood, in a mix of English, Urdu and Roman Urdu, and very often ending in a WhatsApp message rather than a form.
Who this is for and what it fixes
Karachi is Pakistan’s largest and most crowded search market. Traders and manufacturers, a growing startup and tech scene around DHA, Clifton and Shahrah-e-Faisal, and dense retail competition in Saddar, Tariq Road and Gulistan-e-Johar all compete for the same phone screens.
The businesses I work with most in Karachi are:
- Clinics, salons and home services (dentists, physiotherapists, AC repair, plumbers, pest control) that need to appear on the map in the areas they really serve.
- Retail and e-commerce brands selling clothing, bridal wear, electronics and home goods, often alongside a Daraz shop and an Instagram page.
- Restaurants, cafés and caterers whose orders start on foodpanda, Instagram or WhatsApp.
- Manufacturers, exporters and B2B suppliers in Korangi, SITE and Port Qasim who want trade enquiries, not walk-ins.
- Professional firms (law, accounting, consultancies, tuition and test-prep) that rely on trust and reviews.
The problems these businesses bring to me are usually the same: they show on the map in their own block and nowhere else, their Google Business Profile has been suspended or never verified, their website gets visitors but no calls, or a competitor with a weaker service keeps appearing above them.
How Karachi customers search, area by area
Google’s map results lean heavily on distance, and in a city where crossing from Korangi to North Nazimabad can take most of an evening, customers know it. They rarely search “dentist Karachi”. They search “dentist Gulshan”, “AC repair Johar”, “bridal makeup Bahadurabad” or “physiotherapist DHA Phase 6”. A clinic in the top three on the map in Clifton can be missing entirely for someone standing in Gulistan-e-Johar, even when both typed the same words. So before I change anything, I map where your customers come from and check where you appear from each of those points.
| Area | What people commonly search for there | What usually decides visibility |
|---|---|---|
| Saddar | Electronics, mobile repair, wholesale, pharmacies | Exact shop and building name, a pin on the right side of the road |
| Clifton, DHA, Zamzama | Restaurants, cafés, salons, boutiques, private clinics | Photos, review volume and quality, menus and booking links |
| Tariq Road, Bahadurabad, PECHS | Clothing, bridal wear, jewellery, shoes | Fresh product photos and pages updated before Eid and wedding season |
| Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, North Nazimabad | Tuition centres, schools, clinics, home services | Block-level addresses, Roman Urdu wording, a WhatsApp number that gets answered |
| Korangi, SITE, Port Qasim | Manufacturers, suppliers, logistics | Product and capability pages for trade buyers rather than walk-in signals |
Urdu, Roman Urdu and English in the same search box
Karachi searchers switch language mid-sentence. “Biryani near me”, “biryani ki dukaan Gulshan” and “AC wala Johar” can all come from the same person in the same week. I do not build separate thin pages for each spelling. Your main pages use natural Roman Urdu phrases where customers expect them (FAQs, service descriptions, photo captions), Urdu script where your customers actually read it, and English where that is how your trade talks. Reviews written in a mix of languages also help Google connect your business to those phrasings, so I give your staff a simple way to ask for them.
Where Karachi enquiries really arrive
For most Karachi businesses the website is not where the conversation starts. It starts on WhatsApp, a Facebook page, Instagram, foodpanda for restaurants, Daraz for retailers, or OLX for services and used goods. SEO here means treating all of those as one footprint: the same name, the same address, the same number, and links pointing back to one well-built website. I tag the website link on your Google profile so monthly reports separate map visitors from people who found you on Facebook or Daraz.
Fixing a Karachi address so Google can find your door
“Shop G-14, Ground Floor, XYZ Plaza, Block 13-D, Gulshan-e-Iqbal” is perfectly clear to a rickshaw driver and confusing to a map. These are the faults I find most often on Karachi profiles, roughly in the order I fix them:
- The pin is on the wrong building. In dense plazas the marker often lands on the service road or the plaza next door. I check it against the real entrance so customers stop phoning for directions.
- The address is written four different ways across your Google profile, Facebook page, website footer and foodpanda or Daraz listing. I choose one format and apply it everywhere.
- The business name is stuffed with keywords, such as “Best Skin Clinic Karachi DHA Clifton”. It can work briefly, but it is a common reason for suspension. Your profile name should match your signboard.
- Ramadan hours are never updated. Many Karachi businesses move to late-night hours in Ramadan. Google supports special hours, and customers searching after iftar notice when a listing says “closed” while you are open.
- The listed number is a landline nobody answers. If enquiries really come through WhatsApp on a mobile, that number belongs on the profile.
- Shops inside malls are not linked to the mall. At Dolmen Mall, LuckyOne or Ocean Mall, shoppers search brand plus mall, so the floor, unit and “located in” setting all matter.
Verification is its own small project now. Google often asks for a short video showing the signboard, the street and the inside of the premises. I brief you on exactly what to film so it goes through the first time. If your profile has already been suspended, my guide on getting a suspended Google Business Profile reinstated explains the process I follow.
Signs your Karachi business needs SEO work
- You appear on the map near your shop but vanish two or three kilometres away.
- Competitors with fewer years in business show above you for your main service.
- Each branch shares one contact page instead of having its own page and profile.
- Your Daraz or foodpanda listing outranks your own website for your brand name.
What I deliver for Karachi businesses
The scope depends on whether you are mainly a map business, an online store or a B2B supplier, but a typical engagement includes:
- A visibility check from several points across the city, showing where you appear on the map and where you disappear.
- A cleaned-up Google Business Profile: correct primary and secondary categories, services, hours including Ramadan and Eid, attributes, captioned photos and a corrected pin. My Google Business Profile optimisation guide covers the reasoning behind each setting.
- One consistent name, address and phone format applied to your website, social profiles and marketplace listings, plus citations on Pakistan-relevant directories rather than generic global ones.
- Location pages for each real branch, written about that branch (parking, landmarks, which road it is on), not a copied template.
- LocalBusiness structured data with your exact address, phone and opening hours.
- A review routine your staff can follow at the counter or over WhatsApp, in Urdu and English, within Google’s rules.
- Service and category pages written around real Karachi searches, and for online stores, the category and product work covered under e-commerce SEO.
- A monthly report in plain language: calls, direction requests, WhatsApp clicks, map visibility by area and organic traffic.

A 90-day plan for a Karachi business
| Phase | What I do | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1 to 2 | Area-by-area map check, profile and website audit, competitor review in your categories | A short written plan showing where you are visible and the first fixes |
| Weeks 3 to 5 | Profile clean-up, pin correction, verification support, NAP consistency across Facebook, Instagram, Daraz, foodpanda and OLX | One consistent footprint and a profile Google can trust |
| Weeks 6 to 9 | Branch and service pages, Roman Urdu FAQs, LocalBusiness schema, mobile speed fixes on key templates | Pages that match how Karachi customers phrase their searches |
| Weeks 10 to 13 | Review routine in place, local citations and links, seasonal pages ahead of Eid, Ramadan or wedding season | Steady review flow and a calendar for the next quarter |
Map changes such as a corrected pin or categories can show within weeks. Competitive categories in Clifton or DHA usually take longer, and most businesses see clear movement in three to six months. I will not promise a position or a date.
What affects scope and cost
I quote in rupees after looking at your situation. The main factors are the number of branches, how competitive your category is in your areas (a salon in Zamzama is a different fight from a supplier in SITE), whether the website needs rebuilding or just fixing, the size of an online catalogue, and how much content you need.
Common mistakes I see on Karachi sites
- Buying a batch of reviews or asking family to post them, which risks removal and suspension. My post on getting more Google reviews without breaking the rules sets out what works.
- Creating “virtual office” profiles for areas where there is no staffed location.
- Publishing twenty near-identical “SEO for DHA”, “SEO for Gulshan” pages that swap only the area name.
- Hiding prices behind “DM for price”, which gives Google nothing to show.
Working together in Karachi
Because we share a city, we can sit down in person when that helps, usually at the start of a project or when your team needs a walkthrough. Otherwise, most updates happen over WhatsApp and calls, in English or Urdu. If your business also serves other cities, I handle SEO in Lahore and SEO in Islamabad as well, and my wider SEO services in Pakistan cover national campaigns. Examples of how I document and report work are in my case studies.
Frequently asked questions
Is Karachi more competitive for SEO than other Pakistani cities?
Generally yes, particularly in retail, real estate, healthcare and food, simply because more businesses compete for the same searches. The upside is that competition is very local: you do not need to beat the whole city, only the businesses near your customers.
Should each of my Karachi branches have its own Google profile?
Yes, if each branch is a real, staffed location customers can visit during its listed hours. A shop in Bahadurabad and another in DHA should each have a profile and their own page on your website. A branch that exists only as a phone number or a shared desk should not, because Google treats that as a fake listing.
Can one location rank across all of Karachi?
On the map, usually not, because distance matters too much. Your website can still reach the wider city through organic results with service pages and useful content. The map pack is won area by area; the website carries you further.
I run a home service with no shop. Can I still appear on the map?
Yes. You set up a service-area profile with your address hidden and list the areas you genuinely cover, such as Gulshan, Johar and PECHS. Visibility then depends more on reviews, categories and your website’s service pages.
Do I need a website if most of my orders come from Instagram and WhatsApp?
A simple, fast website still helps. It gives Google one place to confirm your details, ranks for searches social pages do not, and makes your business look established to customers who check before paying.
