The Brand Mention Tracker shows how often AI assistants mention your brand, where you appear against competitors and whether they cite your website. Paste up to 200 answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude or Google AI Overviews, and the tool detects brand and competitor mentions, your position in each answer, citations of your domain and the tone around each mention. Results build into a log with mention rate, share of voice and monthly trends, exported as CSV.

Key takeaways
- AI visibility is measured by sampling: run the same set of prompts regularly and record what each assistant says.
- Four numbers matter most: mention rate, position against competitors, citation of your site and share of voice.
- AI answers vary from one run to the next, so look at trends across many checks, not a single answer.
- The log is saved only in your browser. Export the CSV after each session to keep a permanent record.
Why track brand mentions in AI answers?
People now ask AI assistants for recommendations they used to search for: the best clinic in an area, the right software for a small business, a reliable supplier. When an answer names three businesses and yours is not one of them, you lose that customer before they ever see a search result. When an answer names you and links to your site, it works like a personal recommendation.
None of the major assistants offers a report showing how often it mentions your brand. Tracking has to be done by asking the questions your customers ask and recording the answers. This tool removes the manual work from that process: paste the answers and it reads them for you. Our guide to AI visibility tracking covers the method in more depth.
What the tracker measures
| Measure | How it is worked out |
|---|---|
| Mentioned | Your brand name or any alias appears in the answer as a whole word |
| Position | The order of your first mention among all tracked brands, such as 2 of 3 |
| Cited | Your domain appears in the answer as a link or a source, including subdomains |
| Competitors | Which competitors are mentioned, and which have their domains cited |
| Tone | Positive, negative, mixed or neutral, from words in the same sentence as your mention |
| Share of voice | Your mentions as a share of all tracked brand mentions |
How to use the Brand Mention Tracker
- Enter your brand, any other names people use for it, and your domain.
- List your competitors, one per line, with their domains if you know them, such as “Bright Teeth Dental, brightteeth.pk”.
- Build a prompt set with the builder at the bottom: enter your services and locations, and it writes prompts such as “best dental clinic in Clifton Karachi” and “who offers the best teeth whitening in Karachi?”.
- Ask each prompt in each assistant you care about, and copy the full answer.
- Paste the answers into the tool. Start each with optional Assistant:, Prompt: and Date: lines, and separate answers with a line containing only ===.
- Press Analyse answers, check the table, then press “Add to my log”. Export the CSV when you finish.
Example output
The Load example button analyses three answers for a dental clinic. In ChatGPT’s list of Clifton clinics, the brand appears second of three, its domain is cited and the tone is positive because the sentence says patients recommend it. Perplexity’s answer about whitening prices does not mention the brand at all, but cites both competitors’ websites, a clear content gap. Google AI Overviews’ answer about the brand’s reviews mentions it first, cites its reviews page and reads as mixed, because it also mentions long waiting times. Overall the brand is mentioned in 2 of 3 answers (67%), cited twice, and holds 33% share of voice.
How to read your log
- Mention rate by assistant: a low rate in one assistant points to a source it relies on. Perplexity and Copilot lean on web search results, so weak rankings show up there first. See our guides to Perplexity SEO and Bing SEO for AI search.
- Average position: appearing first in a list matters more than appearing fifth. Track how often you are first.
- Citations: a mention without a link builds awareness; a citation also sends visits. If competitors are cited for prices or guides and you are not, publish a better page on that subject.
- Tone: negative or mixed tone usually comes from reviews or forum threads. Fix the underlying issue and respond to reviews.
- Monthly trend: AI answers vary between runs, so compare the same prompt set month to month rather than reacting to a single answer.
How to improve how often AI mentions your brand
- Be crawlable. Confirm that OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and other search crawlers can reach your site with the AI Crawler Access Checker.
- Be clear about who you are. Consistent name, address, services and Organization schema with sameAs links help systems recognise your brand as an entity.
- Publish pages that answer the prompts. Write for the questions in your prompt set, with prices, locations and specifics, and test them with the AI Citation Readiness Scorer.
- Earn mentions elsewhere. AI answers draw on reviews, directories, news and lists. Ask happy customers for reviews and follow up unlinked brand mentions.
- Measure again. Re-run the same prompts next month and compare.
Limits to know about
The tool reads only the text you paste. It does not query AI assistants itself, so results depend on which answers you collect. AI answers change with wording, location, signed-in history and time, so a single check is a sample, not a verdict. Mentions are matched on your brand and alias names, so add common misspellings as aliases. Tone is a rough reading of a short list of positive and negative words, not real sentiment analysis. The log lives in your browser’s storage, which can be cleared, so export the CSV regularly and import it again whenever you need to.
Questions about the Brand Mention Tracker
How can I see if ChatGPT mentions my brand?
Ask ChatGPT the questions your customers would ask, such as “best dental clinic in Clifton Karachi”, and record the answers. Paste them into this tool to detect mentions, position, citations and tone automatically.
What is share of voice in AI search?
Share of voice is your brand’s share of all brand mentions in a set of AI answers. If your brand is mentioned twice and competitors four times, your share of voice is 33%.
How often should I check AI answers?
Monthly works for most businesses. Use the same prompt set each time, in each assistant you care about, so the numbers are comparable from month to month.
Why does my brand appear in one assistant but not another?
Each assistant uses different crawlers, search partners and sources. Perplexity and Copilot lean on live web results, while ChatGPT combines its own search with what the model already knows.
Can I import an old log?
Yes. Import any CSV exported from this tool. The file needs at least the assistant and mentioned columns, and the new rows are added to your current log.
Is my data stored on your server?
No. The analysis runs in your browser, and the log is saved in your browser’s local storage only. Nothing is sent to my server.
