The best keywords for a plumbing website match what customers are doing at that moment: fixing an emergency, comparing quotes for planned work or trying to understand a problem. Group your keywords by that intent, give each group its own page and pair every service with the places you actually serve.
Emergency keywords
These searches come from people who need help now, such as emergency plumber, burst pipe repair or 24 hour plumber. Volume per term is modest, but the value per call is high and the decision is fast. These visitors want a phone number, your hours and proof you can arrive quickly.
Planned work keywords
Water heater replacement, bathroom plumbing installation, boiler servicing and repiping are bigger jobs. People compare options and read more before calling, so these pages need detail on process, materials and what is included.

Problem and question keywords
Searches such as why is my tap dripping or what causes low water pressure are informational. They will not always produce a call, but they build trust and can capture people before an emergency happens. A short blog article with a clear next step works well here.
Adding location the right way
Combine each service with the towns and districts you really cover, but only create separate pages where you have something genuine to say. My article on local landing pages explains how to avoid thin, duplicated town pages.
How to find your keywords
- Read the search terms in Google Search Console once you have impressions.
- Check the searches shown in your Google Business Profile performance data.
- Use Google autocomplete and the People also ask box for local phrasing.
- Look at which service pages your closest competitors have that you do not.
For a wider method, follow my keyword research guide.
Map each keyword to one page
Two pages chasing the same phrase compete with each other. Assign one main keyword to each page and note it down. My guide to keyword mapping shows the process.
Frequently asked questions
Should I put near me on my pages?
Not as a stuffed phrase. Google works out nearness from the searcher location and your profile. Clear addresses, service areas and local content do more than repeating near me.
How many keywords should one page target?
One main topic with a few close variations that read naturally.
