Do Plumbers Need Separate Pages for Each Service and Town?

Add saadrazaseo.com as a preferred source on Google

Takes about a minute. You hear back from me personally.

Yes, plumbers should give each major service its own page, and add town pages only for places they genuinely serve and can write something real about. A page for every service in every town copied from one template is thin content and risks being treated as doorway pages.

Why separate service pages work

Someone searching for drain unblocking has a different need from someone planning a bathroom installation. One page trying to cover everything ranks poorly for each. A page per core service lets you answer the specific questions, show relevant photos and use a call to action that fits.

When a town page is worth creating

Create a town page when you actively work there and can include details that are true only for that place: typical property types, common local issues, jobs you have completed, nearby areas covered and local reviews. Without that, a town page is just your service text with a place name swapped in. My article on writing city pages without doorway risk goes deeper.

A simple structure that scales

  • A main plumbing services page that links to every service.
  • One page per core service, such as emergency plumbing, drain cleaning and water heaters.
  • A small set of area pages for your main towns, each with unique content.
  • Links from area pages to the relevant service pages and back.

What to avoid

Do not publish dozens of near-identical town pages, do not list cities you do not serve and do not hide location lists in the footer. Google may ignore low-value pages, and they dilute the strength of your better ones.

Service-area businesses and addresses

If you travel to customers rather than welcoming them in a shop, the way you present your address and areas matters. I cover this in service-area business local SEO.

Frequently asked questions

How many town pages is too many?

There is no fixed number. If you cannot write something genuinely different for the next town, stop.

Should the pages be on a blog?

Service and area pages belong in the main site structure, not the blog.

Next steps

Home service businesses share many of these patterns, which I outline in SEO services for home service businesses. For plumbing specifically, see my SEO services for plumbers or contact me here.
