The best keywords for an electrician website are grouped by job type: urgent faults, domestic upgrades, safety certificates, EV charger installation and commercial work. Each group attracts a different customer, so each deserves its own page, written for that person’s worry and paired with the locations you actually cover.
Urgent fault keywords
Phrases like emergency electrician, power cut in one room or tripping fuse describe someone who needs help today. Pages for these searches should lead with a phone number, your hours and how quickly you can attend.
Domestic upgrade keywords
Rewiring, consumer unit or fuse box replacement, extra sockets and lighting installation are planned jobs. Searchers compare firms and read more, so explain what the work involves, how long it takes and how you keep the household running.

Safety certificate keywords
Landlords and buyers often search for electrical safety inspections and condition reports. These are steady, repeat-friendly searches, and a clear page describing what is inspected and what the customer receives converts well.
EV charger keywords
Home charger installation is a growing search topic with its own questions. It deserves a dedicated page, covered in my guide on ranking for EV charger installation searches.
Commercial keywords
Business customers search for things like electrical maintenance contract or testing and inspection. These pages should speak about compliance, minimal downtime and account handling rather than domestic reassurance.
Where to find real phrases
- Search terms in Google Search Console.
- Searches shown in your Google Business Profile performance data.
- Autocomplete and People also ask suggestions.
- The service pages your closest competitors publish.
My full process is in the keyword research guide. Once you have a list, assign one main phrase per page using keyword mapping.
Frequently asked questions
Should I target electrician near me?
Not as a repeated phrase. Clear service areas, a strong Google Business Profile and local proof work better than stuffing the words in.
Can one page rank for several jobs?
Rarely well. Separate jobs need separate pages.
