To create Product schema for an online store, paste your product data as a CSV or straight from a spreadsheet into the free Product Schema Generator above. One row works for a single product, and up to 1,000 rows work for a catalogue. It builds Product JSON-LD with the offer (price, currency, availability and condition), ratings, shipping cost and return policy. It converts prices such as “Rs. 4,500” into the plain numbers Google needs, validates GTIN barcodes with the GS1 check digit, and flags anything that would block a product rich result or merchant listing.

Key takeaways

  • Product markup makes product pages eligible for rich results with price, stock and ratings, and for free merchant listings in Google’s shopping results.
  • Google requires a product name and at least one of offers, review or aggregateRating. Merchant listings also need an image and a price above zero.
  • Prices must be plain numbers (4500.00) with a separate three-letter currency code (PKR). “Rs. 4,500” in the price field is an error.
  • Keep the markup identical to what the page shows. A price in the schema that differs from the page can get products disapproved.

What Product schema does

Product structured data tells Google exactly what you sell on a page: the item, its brand and identifiers, the price and currency, whether it is in stock, its condition, its rating, and how shipping and returns work. Google uses it for product snippets, which show price, availability and stars under a search result, and for merchant listings in the Shopping tab and image results. My guide to Product schema properties lists what each property does, and Merchant Center free listings explains the shopping side.

Store platforms add some markup automatically, but often incompletely: no brand, no GTIN, no shipping details, or prices with currency symbols. This generator fills those gaps from a spreadsheet you already have, such as a Shopify or WooCommerce product export.

How to use the Product Schema Generator

  1. Paste your products with a header row. Columns are matched by name: name, url, image, description, sku, brand, gtin (or ean, upc), mpn, price, sale_price, currency, availability, condition, price_valid_until, rating, review_count, shipping_cost, shipping_country and return_days. Common export names such as title and image_link also work.
  2. Enter your site address so relative URLs like /products/ribbon/ become absolute, and set the default currency, brand and shipping country.
  3. Generate. The table shows each product as ready, needing a check, or needing a fix, with the reasons.
  4. Copy each product’s JSON-LD to that product’s page, or download all products as one JSON array to load into your theme or plugin.
  5. Test a few pages in Google’s Rich Results Test and the structured data checker.

What the generator checks

CheckLevelRule
NameErrorRequired
Offer, review or ratingErrorAt least one is required
Price formatErrorMust be a number; symbols such as Rs., $, £ and € are converted, and thousands separators removed
CurrencyErrorA three-letter ISO 4217 code such as PKR, USD or AED
AvailabilityWarning“in stock”, “yes”, “out of stock”, “preorder” and similar become schema.org values; anything else is flagged
GTINError8, 12, 13 or 14 digits with a valid GS1 check digit
RatingErrorBetween 1 and 5 and with a review count above 0
ImageWarningNeeded for merchant listings
Sale priceWarningMust be lower than the normal price
Price valid untilWarningFlagged when the date has passed

Shipping cost and country become an OfferShippingDetails block, and return days become a MerchantReturnPolicy, with 0 meaning returns are not accepted.

A worked example

The example is a small gift shop catalogue with four products, priced in Pakistani rupees. The generator marked two as ready and two as needing a fix:

  • Satin Rose Bouquet (24 stems): ready. The price “Rs. 4,500” became "price": "4500.00" with "priceCurrency": "PKR", availability InStock, a 4.8 rating from 37 reviews, PKR 250 shipping within Pakistan and a 7-day return window.
  • Chocolate Gift Box: ready, out of stock, with a valid EAN-13 barcode output as gtin13.
  • Ribbon Roll Gold: needs a fix. Its barcode 4006381333932 fails the check digit (the valid version ends in 1), its rating of 6 is outside the 1 to 5 scale, and it has no image.
  • Gift Card: needs a fix. It has no price and no rating, so it does not qualify for any product rich result.

Getting product markup right

  • One block per product page. Do not list several products’ Product markup on a category page.
  • Match the page. If a sale ends or stock changes, the markup must change with it. Generating from the same spreadsheet you use for stock keeps them aligned.
  • Handle stock honestly. Keep out-of-stock products live with OutOfStock rather than deleting them; my guide to out-of-stock products and SEO explains why.
  • Use real reviews only. Ratings must come from genuine customer reviews shown on the page.
  • Write proper descriptions. The description in the markup should be the one on the page. See product descriptions that rank.

Add breadcrumbs for category paths with the breadcrumb schema generator, and use the schema markup generator for your Organization or LocalBusiness markup. For the wider store setup, my Shopify SEO checklist applies to most platforms.

Preparing your product spreadsheet

Most stores can export products as a CSV from the admin panel. In Shopify, use Products and Export; in WooCommerce, use Products, then Export. Keep the columns you need and rename them if necessary: name, url, image, price, currency, availability and brand cover the essentials, and sku, gtin, rating and review_count add detail. Remove draft and hidden products first, because markup should only go on live pages. If your prices include tax and a currency symbol, leave them as they are; the generator strips symbols and separators. For variants such as sizes or colours, use the variant that the page shows by default, or one row per variant page if each has its own URL. A clean sheet also makes it easier to keep a Google Merchant Center feed in step.

Limits

The generator creates markup from the data you give it; it does not read your store or check that the page shows the same price. GTIN validation confirms the number is well formed, not that it belongs to your product. Merchant listings can need more than structured data, such as a Merchant Center feed or account settings for shipping and returns. Google’s requirements change from time to time, so test a sample in the Rich Results Test after any major update. Everything runs in your browser.

Questions about the Product Schema Generator

What are the required properties for Product schema?

A name, and at least one of offers, review or aggregateRating. For merchant listings, Google also needs an image and an offer with a price and currency.

How do I write a price in PKR?

Put the number in price, such as 4500.00, and PKR in priceCurrency. Do not include “Rs.” or commas in the price field. The generator converts these for you.

Do I need a GTIN?

Not always, but Google recommends it for products that have one, such as branded goods with a barcode. Handmade and custom products usually do not have GTINs; leave the column empty.

Can I add Product schema to a WordPress or WooCommerce site?

WooCommerce and SEO plugins add basic Product markup. Use this generator to see what complete markup should contain, or to add it to custom-built product pages.

Why does a product with no price fail?

Google needs offers, a review or a rating for any Product rich result. A product with none of these, such as a gift card with no fixed price, is not eligible.
