SEO Audit in Chennai

A remote SEO audit for Chennai companies, whether you sell to neighbours in T. Nagar or to software buyers in the US and Europe.

Chennai has two very different kinds of search market sitting side by side. One is local and often Tamil-speaking: shoppers in T. Nagar, families choosing a school in Adyar, patients looking for a specialist. The other is global: software and services firms along OMR and in the IT parks selling to buyers in the US, UK and Europe. An SEO audit has to know which market you are in before it can say anything useful.

Two audit tracks for Chennai businesses

Local Chennai audience International B2B audience
Typical businesses Retailers, jewellers, silk and textile shops, schools, coaching centres, clinics, restaurants, real estate developers SaaS companies, IT services, engineering services, KPO and outsourcing firms, manufacturers selling abroad
Search language Tamil, Tanglish (Tamil typed in Roman script) and English English, sometimes German, French or Japanese for specific markets
Main audit focus Google Business Profile, locality pages, mobile speed, Tamil content setup Topical depth, product and solution pages, international targeting, crawl efficiency on large sites
Schema types that matter LocalBusiness, Store, School, MedicalClinic, Restaurant Organization, SoftwareApplication, Product, Article with clear authors

Some companies need both. A hospital may serve local patients and international medical travellers. A manufacturer may run a domestic dealer network and an export division. In those cases the audit covers both tracks and shows where they clash on the same site.

Auditing for Tamil and Tanglish searches

A lot of local searching in Chennai happens in Tamil script, in Tanglish, or in English with Tamil names for dishes, products and places. Most business sites I see are English-only, which means they depend on searchers switching language to find them. The audit checks:

  • Whether your Search Console data already shows Tamil or Tanglish queries that no page is designed for.
  • Whether existing Tamil content is real text, correctly declared as Tamil in the code, and not placed inside images or PDFs.
  • How product and locality names are spelled across your site and listings, since one area can be written several ways in English.
  • Whether your Google Business Profile description, services and posts include the terms local customers actually use.

Where Tamil content is worth adding, I specify which pages and what they should cover. The writing itself is best done or checked by a native Tamil writer.

Common findings on Chennai IT and SaaS sites

A services list instead of solutions

Many IT services firms present a long list of technologies (Java, .NET, cloud, data, testing) with one short page each. Buyers in the US or Europe search by problem and industry, not by technology label. The audit shows where your site has no page that answers the searches your prospects make, and where several pages compete for the same phrase.

A blog that never connects to the business

I often find hundreds of blog posts written for volume, unrelated to the company’s services, with no links to service pages. The audit identifies which posts earn traffic, which should be merged or removed, and how the useful ones should link into your commercial pages to build topical authority.

Location targeting that confuses Google

A Chennai firm selling to the US may have a .com domain with an Indian address everywhere, rupee prices on a pricing page, and US phone numbers on another. The audit tidies up these mixed signals and, where you have multiple regional sites, checks hreflang.

Large-site crawl waste

Product documentation, knowledge bases, tag archives and staging copies can create thousands of low-value URLs. I review how Google spends its crawl effort and which sections should be consolidated, noindexed or blocked.

Hospitals and medical travel

Chennai is a well-known destination for patients from other Indian states and from abroad. Hospital websites in the city often carry hundreds of doctor and treatment pages. The audit checks doctor profiles for qualifications and specialties, Physician and MedicalClinic schema, international patient pages, and whether treatment content is written and reviewed by qualified people. I flag health claims that need checking, and your medical team should confirm what is accurate and compliant with Indian rules on medical advertising.

What a Chennai audit report includes

  1. An audience and market summary based on your Search Console and analytics data.
  2. Full crawl findings, with issues grouped by template so your developers can fix them in bulk.
  3. Language and region review: Tamil content, hreflang, currency and contact details.
  4. Local listing review for each branch or showroom, if you have them.
  5. A content map showing which pages to keep, merge, remove or create.
  6. A prioritised fix list your team can work through sprint by sprint.

The standard checklist is listed under SEO audit services. To see how audits like this become sprint plans, read my case studies.

Festivals, monsoon and seasonal demand

For local retailers, Pongal and Deepavali bring the biggest shopping searches of the year for silk sarees, jewellery, sweets and home goods, and wedding season drives demand for jewellers, caterers and venues. The north-east monsoon later in the year changes what people search for too, from waterproofing to home repairs. The audit checks whether your festive collection pages are reused each year on stable URLs, and whether offers from last season are still indexed and confusing shoppers.

Working across thirty minutes

India Standard Time is just half an hour ahead of Karachi, so our working days line up almost exactly. Calls are easy to arrange, and I can join a sprint review or meet your developers directly. I do not have an office in Chennai; all work is remote.

Questions Chennai companies ask about the audit

Our developers are in-house. Will they understand the report?

Yes. Technical findings include affected URLs, the template causing the problem and the specific change needed. I am happy to talk your developers through it on a call.

Is it worth adding Tamil pages for a B2B company?

Usually not for international sales. It can be worth it for domestic dealer recruitment or local hiring pages, and I only suggest it where Search Console shows Tamil queries already reaching you.

We have a separate site for each service line. Is that a problem?

It often splits authority and duplicates effort. The audit compares how each site performs and recommends whether consolidation makes sense.
